When Jesus told the disciples that He would be leaving them, they were very sad, but He told them that it is good for them that He goes away or else the Comforter, the Helper, cannot come. And He promised them that the Helper, the Holy Spirit from the Father would be with them for ever, and not only with them but also with all those who would believe in Him and follow Him. The Helper, the Holy Spirit will teach us and guide us into all truth, will be our constant companion, will tell us the mind of Christ and the will of God.
The world cannot receive the Holy Spirit, only those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and their Master, they receive the Holy Spirit. But it is just sad that THE MAJORITY OF BELIEVERS REJECT THE HOLY SPIRIT. They don't want the Helper, they don't want the Comforter, they don't trust Him. They have substitutes. They rather believe in the writings of people, they rather go and read the Bible for themselves, go and ask people for advice, and Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit to be with us, to guide us. He is always with us, every moment. IF WE GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT, HE WILL LEAVE US!
The disciples believed Jesus. He told them to go and wait in Jerusalem UNTIL they had received the Holy Spirit. They went and they waited and the Holy Spirit was poured out on the day of Pentecost and then they went out in the power of the Holy Spirit, led by the Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit is promised to YOU and to me, if we believe in Jesus, but if we reject Him, friend, WE WILL NOT FIND THE WAY because then we reject Jesus Christ Himself.
Do you trust other things more than the Holy Spirit? Do you trust in your own judgment, in your own insight of the Bible? Do you trust your “King James” more than the Holy Spirit? Do you check the Holy Spirit against your insight of your KJV (King James Version)? Or do you trust Him?
He will speak to you, He will guide you every step of the way, but you need to WAIT ON HIM. The Holy Spirit will not make you wise in your own eyes. He will not make you arrogant. If you truly know the Spirit of God, you will be humble and you will be waiting on Him all the time. You won't act on your own initiative, but you will LISTEN, WAIT on Him, TRUST and OBEY. He wants to guide you into the perfect will of God IF you will just LISTEN!
Do you cherish the Holy Spirit that Jesus sent to guide us, or do you trust in other things more? Do you grieve the Holy Spirit of God?
May Jesus bless you.
