Hunger and Thirst

God gives LIFE to us and He wants to give us even MORE LIFE, life in abundance. In Jesus Christ God reaches out to us and He wants to give us ETERNAL LIFE but sin separates us from God. Without Jesus we can do nothing, without Jesus we don't have LIFE, but if we embrace Jesus then He sets us free from the bondage of sin and we can LIVE in the presence of God, we can have LIFE IN ABUNDANCE.

Those who BELIEVE in Jesus and who OBEY Him will have eternal life but the world rejects Jesus. People rather love the pleasures of sin and choose to go after the desires of their flesh, they reject Jesus and then they come to the end of their life and they spend eternity in damnation, AWAY FROM JESUS because they chose to reject Jesus, to reject LIFE.

If we SEEK Jesus we find Him and He will reveal Himself to us. Jesus said:”Blessed are those who YEARN (hunger and thirst) for righteousness because they will be satisfied.” He said:”Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and then all the other things will be added unto you.” If we SEEK Jesus, we find Him, if we go after Him He will reveal Himself to us, but we have to HUNGER AND THIRST for Him. We have to HUNGER AND THIRST for the RIGHTEOUSNESS that results from OBEYING and FOLLOWING Jesus Christ because then we come into the presence of God, then we have eternal life.

Without Jesus there is NO LIFE, without Jesus there is NO FUTURE. Do you HUNGER AND THIRST for RIGHTEOUSNESS? Do you HUNGER AND THIRST for Jesus Christ? Do you always HUNGER AND THIRST to be in His presence and for the ASSURANCE that he Himself is pleased with you?

The Word of God is Active Sharp Living

The writer of Hebrews writes in Hebrews 4:12,13:”For the WORD OF GOD is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and ABLE TO JUDGE THE THOUGHTS AND INTENTIONS OF THE HEART. And there is no creature hidden from His SIGHT, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.”

The Word of God IS Jesus Christ, when He speaks to you it cuts you to the bone. It unsettles you, it brings you on your knees, it disrupts your life, it makes you realize that you are NOTHING, that you are in the presence of the living God. “Man shall not live from bread alone but from every WORD that proceeds from the MOUTH OF GOD.” That is for those who LISTEN, who TAKE HEED AND and who FEAR God.

Many people do not fear God. They apply the scriptures to their liking and they live as THEY please but they don't know God. When God speaks to you IT CUTS YOU, IT DISRUPTS YOU, IT DESTROYS YOU but it builds you into that which God wants you to be. Most believers do not know God. They do not know His voice. They do not follow Him.

Jesus said:”My sheep LISTEN to My voice and they FOLLOW Me.” Most believers do not LISTEN to Jesus because they do not know His voice. They are not His sheep. They do not know the ONE with whom they have to do but we will all stand before His throne. If we do not recognize and KNOW His voice right now, if we do not FEAR Him and OBEY Him it will be a fateful day when we stand before Him and He says:”Go away I never knew you, you workers of wickedness.” Then those words will cut you for ever and for eternity. It is better to LISTEN to Jesus RIGHT NOW, to go on your knees and to seek Him, to say:”Speak Lord, Your servant is LISTENING.”

Are you LISTENING to the words of Jesus? Are those words piercing you, cutting you, disrupting your life, and sending you where He wants to? Are those words directing you and using you as an instrument for the Kingdom of God or are you following after your own pleasure. Do you HEAR the Word of God?

Living by faith

Jesus Christ is the way and the truth and the life. If we follow Him, He justifies us and He gives us eternal life, but we must BELIEVE in Him, we must KNOW Him and FOLLOW Him to be pleasing to Him. He justifies those who BELIEVE Him, who TRUST Him, who OBEY Him and FOLLOW Him. It is written in Hebrews 10:38 “BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE SHALL LIVE BY FAITH; AND IF HE SHRINKS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM.” We will only follow Jesus and OBEY Him IF we truly believe in Him. Many believers are just presumptuous, they are not following Jesus, they believe they are saved on the grounds of a few Bible verses, on what people have told them. They have no relationship with Jesus. We can only follow Jesus if we are in relationship with Him, if we hear His voice, if we pray and He answers us and He guides us. In Matthew 4:4 "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'" You have to HEAR from the Lord in order to BELIEVE and then ACT on it. The apostle Paul wrote in Romans 10:17 “ faith comes from HEARING, and hearing by the word of Christ.“ What is that hearing? It is when the Spirit of Christ speaks to you and guides you. If you are not hearing from the Lord then you have nothing to go on. You will live by faith, you will live by every word that proceeds from the MOUTH of God. The righteous will live by FAITH, by his dependance on Jesus. The apostle Paul also wrote in Romans 8:14 “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” You are only a child of God if you are led by the Spirit of God, but if you are led by your mind and your opinion and what other people tell you then you are not following Jesus. You cannot be pleasing to Him and you are not justified. The apostle James wrote in James 1:5-8 “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, 8being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.“ You will only follow Jesus IF you truly believe, if you truly trust in Him and you can only please Him, IF YOU TRUST HIM. The follower of Christ does nothing unless he gets his guidance from the Holy Spirit. He prays and he asks the Lord for guidance and then he ACTS on the guidance that he has received. If you do not intend DOING what the Lord tells you to do then it is useless to ask for His guidance because He will not give you His guidance and you will not follow His guidance, and then you are not in faith and you are not justified, you are rejected because the RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH, by his relationship with Jesus and his STEADFAST TRUST in the Lord. The child of God gets his guidance FROM God. He is led by the Spirit of God. He LISTENS to the Spirit, He doesn't go anywhere else, he doesn't flip through the scriptures; he goes on his knees and he prays and God answers him and then he follows that guidance. Are you walking by faith? Do you know Jesus? Do you pray and wait for and answer? Because that is the only way that you can please Jesus. “The righteous will live by faith and if he withdraws My soul will have no pleasure in him.” We have to walk by faith to please God. LISTEN to the SPIRIT to LIVE.

Eternal life comes by LISTENING and by OBEYING the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD. If we do not have the Spirit of Christ in us and if we do not OBEY HIM, we do not have life in us. It is the Holy Spirit who guides us into all truth IF we have received Him, IF we listen and IF we obey Him.
It is written in Hebrews 10:38 “BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE SHALL LIVE BY FAITH; AND IF HE SHRINKS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM.” God justifies those who OBEY HIM, who do what He tells them to do. He put His Spirit in us and if we obey Him then He gives us eternal life. "It is written, that MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT FROM EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD."Matthew 4:4 FAITH comes by the HEARING, when we HEAR the WORD OF GOD, when God speaks to us in our spirit and we obey Him, then we are justified. There is no other way to please God but to OBEY HIM and to do what He tells us to do.
In the Old Testament in 1 Kings 13 There is a story of a young prophet who was sent by God to go and warn King Jeroboam BUT there was also an old prophet who came and who told this young prophet to come and stay over with Him, AFTER GOD had told this young prophet NOT to return home with the same road NEITHER to stay over. But because this other man was also a prophet of God, he allowed himself to be PERSUADED, to stay over with the old prophet, and because of that he died. We read in 1 King 13:28 ”He went out and found his body thrown on the road with the donkey and the lion standing beside him; the lion had not eaten the body nor torn the donkey.” That was his REWARD for DISOBEYING GOD. This young prophet was killed by a lion because he rather listened to the old prophet and DISOBEYED GOD. We will LIVE if we obey the Spirit of God.
A Second World War veteran once told me that he survived the war because he listened to his conscience. He told me how quite a few times he knew inside that he was not safe where he was and he had to move, just a few feet, go and sit in a different place and then a bomb would drop right where he had been a few minutes before. He LISTENED to his CONSCIENCE and he survived. God puts His Spirit in us and we have to LISTEN and OBEY to LIVE. “Those who are LED BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD, they are the SONS OF GOD.” Romans 8:14.
We will only have eternal life if we LISTEN to the Spirit of God. LISTEN and your soul will live. If you have not received the Spirit of God, REPENT and invite Jesus into your life, be baptized in water and ask Him for the baptism in the Holy Spirit, ask Him for His Spirit to come and dwell inside of you and LISTEN to the Spirit of God. OBEY HIM and you will live, DISOBEY HIM and you will perish.
