My BIG Mistake

When I was young I was eager for Jesus. I was witnessing, praying for the sick, street preaching and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. But then I met up with a group of people who were casting out demons and prophesying (personal prophecies), and I got involved with these people. They were also following after the teachings of some American prophet. They influenced me to leave my job and join them to evangelize. While I was with this group I became attracted to a girl but they prophesied to this girl that she should marry some other young man in the group and they tried to influence me to marry another girl in the group. This girl that I was attracted to immediately responded to their prophecy and became affectionate to the other person whom they prophesied about.

I was mad. But I was mad at God not mad at the people that I had wrongly followed. The mistake I made was that I was following Jesus until I became part of a group and followed after people. Then I left Jesus and for many years I did not serve the Lord.

That is the mistake that many people make, they take their eyes off Jesus and they follow people. After many years away from the Lord Jesus, with much suffering, because of my own foolishness, the Lord Jesus brought me back to Him. But the lesson that I learned was to NEVER TRUST ANY PERSON again, to put my trust in Jesus ALONE, to LISTEN to HIM and to FOLLOW HIM, because Jesus Christ ALONE is the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE.

I learned a very tough lesson but today I can WARN other people NOT TO GO AFTER ANY PREACHER, NOT TO JOIN ANY GROUP but to FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST ALONE! Do not take the advice of people, PRAY and ASK JESUS and He will guide you, He will give you wisdom and you will get to KNOW HIM. After some forty years I learned this girl that also listened to the prophecy had a disastrous marriage, she was divorced after five years and her life was wrecked.

If you follow after people you will be destroyed. You need to follow after Jesus Christ. Serve Him and TRUST HIM ALONE. Trust no man. Get your focus on Jesus. He will guide your footsteps and He will never forsake you, He will never let you down. But when you take your eyes off Jesus YOU ARE DOOMED!

Follow Jesus Christ ALONE. Follow no man.

What God SAYS

Most people take seriously and often live by what others say, often to their own downfall. People are concerned about what other people say, what the doctor says, what the husband says, what the wife says, what the news says, what their children say, what the Bible says, what their pastor says but the one thing that really matters they are not concerned about and that is WHAT GOD SAYS.

Man shall not live from bread alone but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, and God is speaking to each and every person. God is speaking to YOU and to me but very few of us LISTEN or take seriously, even take note of what God is saying. If we LISTEN to the Holy Spirit of God and OBEY we will LIVE. Jesus said:”My sheep LISTEN to My voice and they follow Me.” whom are we LISTENING to? Are we listening to others or are we listening to what Jesus is saying? What is more important to us?

If we LISTEN to what Jesus is saying we will have eternal life. If we disregard Him and listen to what other people say, we will perish. Who are we LISTENING to?

The Image of Jesus

People spend vast amounts of money to follow after their idols, to portray a certain image. They buy certain motorcars, motorbikes, they wear certain brand clothes, they have their bodies pierced and tattooed to look like certain people that they follow so that they can portray a certain image.

If we follow Jesus Christ we will be changed into His likeness. We will portray the image of Christ. The image of Jesus Christ that we will portray will be the TRUE IMAGE. Not the one of the Catholic church or of Hollywood or of many pictures that you see, the Jesus that is preached in many churches, it will be the TRUE JESUS, because if we walk with Jesus we will become LIKE HIM. We will take on His likeness. Jesus Christ was rejected by men, He was persecuted, He was crucified, He was stripped naked and hung on a pole. Jesus Christ became of NO REPUTATION at all. That is the image that you will take on if you follow Jesus Christ. You will be hated, rejected, persecuted, and you might get killed if you follow Jesus Christ and become like Him.

That is why the world hates the true image of Jesus Christ. That is why they put on a false image for Jesus and that is why they follow a false Jesus not the true Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Are you going after Jesus Christ, becoming like Him? Are you changed into His likeness? Or are you following after idols? Are you trying to be like other people, wearing certain brand clothes, spending your money on images that you follow instead of following Jesus Christ? Are you taking on the image of the REAL Jesus Christ?

You will be ALONE if you follow Jesus

Do not expect friends and family to congratulate you the day that you decide to truly follow Jesus Christ, because when you truly follow Jesus and obey Him then you are ON YOUR OWN. You might not be ALONE, you might be among many people but nobody will be WITH YOU. You will be ON YOUR OWN. The only One that will be WITH YOU and who will never leave you nor forsake you is Jesus Christ.

Don't think that your church friends will be glad when you start following Jesus, they will reject you. Don't think that your pastor or your priest or your preacher will be glad, they will hate you and persecute you if you walk with Jesus. If you walk with Jesus you are ALONE even when you are in the crowd. Jesus will never leave you, He will never forsake you, He will always be with you to guide you and to teach you, to comfort you, to give you wisdom and to teach you His ways, to LEAD you to eternal life.

Jesus Christ Himself was a man of sorrows, He was rejected, persecuted and killed in the end but He AROSE and He is ALIVE, and He LIVES in those who truly follow Him and they are LIKE HIM also ALONE.

Are you willing to be ALONE with Jesus or do you treasure the acceptance and the company of people, friends, family, acquaintances? If you are not willing to be ALONE with Jesus then you are not worthy of Him and you will not follow Him. May Jesus bless you.

Make DISCIPLES OF JESUS not friends

)

The world wants to make friends with other people, with influential people. Christians like to use the names of famous name preachers, they want to be attached to and associate with famous names and great people. But that is not what Jesus called us for. He commanded us to make disciples of HIMSELF, not to make friends and influence people and build churches. It is all about Jesus and the Kingdom of God, about knowing Jesus and following Him, getting our wisdom and guidance from Him.

If we follow Jesus we will be persecuted, rejected, excluded from worldly people and we have to cherish HIS PRESENCE, His acceptance and His approval more than anything else. If you follow Jesus Christ you will often be alone but you will be with Jesus Christ. It is not about friends and being accepted by others. It is about our relationship with Jesus Christ and being pleasing to HIM.

FREEDOM in Jesus Christ

You find true freedom IN Jesus Christ IF you attach yourself to Him, you cling to Him, seek Him always, FOLLOW Him and DO what He tells you to do. But you first need to DETACH yourself from the things of this world, from friends, peer pressure, things that people do, convention, and all that you concern yourself about is WHAT JESUS WANTS.

You cannot find freedom in Jesus if you are still attached to the world, if you still want to fit into the world, be accepted by the world, be accepted by your friends, want to wear the same clothes, conform to the same conventions. Then you are a SLAVE because those things DRIVE you. If you still care about what other people think, what the family think, what your friends think then you CANNOT CARE ABOUT WHAT Jesus thinks. You cannot be seeking the glory of God AND the approval of people.

If you go after the approval of people you will stay in bondage but if you seek the approval of God and follow Jesus Christ YOU WILL BE FREE because you only need to be pleasing to Him. Are YOU free to follow Jesus and DO what he requires of you or are you still attached and in bondage to the world?

Get a Life

The whole world is in a rat race, being controlled and manipulated by other people, being used and abused for their own advantage. Husbands and wives manipulate and control each other. Governments control their people. Churches manipulate and control their members, using the Bible. People are manipulated by peer pressure, convention. They don't want to feel “out” but they are not LIVING, they are not having A LIFE. They are being controlled.

The only way that you can have a LIFE, be FREE is if you follow and OBEY Jesus Christ. “Whomever the Son of God has set free, will be FREE and FREE indeed” IF they STAY with Jesus. If you fear what people think and what they will say then you are a SLAVE, you are in bondage, you don't have life! You can only have LIFE if you follow Jesus Christ and you obey Him. Only Jesus Christ can set you free. Fear Him, OBEY Him and you will have LIFE.

Selfish Fellowship

People go after fellowship with other people, with other Christians all because of selfish reasons. It is all about THEM. They don't want to be lonely, they want to be affiliated, they want to be accepted. People want Jesus for what they can get out of Him not for the sake of being with Jesus Himself and that is why they look for the company of other people.

If we love Jesus and we want to spend eternity with Him we will already do s RIGHT NOW. We will constantly make ourselves aware of Him and His presence. We will treasure HIS FELLOWSHIP. Where our treasure is there our heart will be also .

Is our heart WITH Jesus and with being pleasing to Him or do we seek the approval, acceptance and fellowship of other people?

The Profit Motive

The whole world is driven by the profit motive. People are always scheming, thinking of how they can benefit from what they say or what they do. Their motives are selfish. Even preachers and churches want to benefit from the people.

The child of God is motivated by the Spirit of God, his only desire is to be pleasing to Jesus. What is YOUR and my motive? Why do we do things? Do we want to achieve some selfish ambition or gain some benefit or are we seeking to be pleasing to Jesus? What motivates us, the Spirit of God or our own selfish desires? Are we TRULY children of God?

Chasing after wind

If you are not chasing after Jesus you are chasing after wind. In the end you will be a fool and a loser because the day you die you will face Jesus and if you did not know Him, love Him and OBEY Him then He will deny you. He will say to you:”Go away I never knew you, you worker of wickedness.”

Are you chasing after Jesus or after other things, knowledge, the desires of the flesh, to satisfy yourself, to impress other people? In the end you will lose it all. The only treasure that will last is Jesus Christ Himself. Where you spend eternity will depend on one thing only. And that is YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LIVING GOD, whether you loved him, followed Him and OBEYED Him.

If you reject Jesus you reject LIFE. If you disobey Him and deny Him He will also deny and reject you. What are you chasing after? Jesus or wind? Where will you spend eternity? Heaven of hell? If you do not love, OBEY and FOLLOW Jesus RIGHT NOW, you will spend eternity away from His presence in eternal damnation.

God's man or People Pleaser

If you follow Jesus Christ and obey Him you become a child of God and you do not fit into this world any more. You take on the likeness of Jesus and this world will reject you, hate you and persecute you like they did to Jesus Christ.

If you seek the approval of God then this world will reject you. You cannot be God's man and a man of the world. Who do YOU want to please? Jesus or people? Are you seeking the approval of God or that of men?

Freedom from bondage and fear

All men are captives, they are slaves to something even though they might think that they are free men. People live in fear of death, insecurities, anxiety, addictions... People are concerned about what other people think about them, peer pressure. What are other people going to say?

Jesus Christ came to set us free and those whom the Son of God have set free, they will be free and free indeed. But there is a condition to the freedom that Jesus gives us and that is THAT WE SERVE HIM AS LORD, we deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Jesus Christ every day. If we accept Jesus Christ as LORD then we do not care what other people think about us, any more. We do not worry about the things of the world. We do not worry about tomorrow or about our security, our safety, what we will eat, what we will drink, our future, because Jesus said:”Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you,” but that is the condition, that we must first seek the righteousness of Jesus Christ, His standard of righteousness. We must live in OBEDIENCE to Him and we must SERVE Him as KING. If we serve Jesus as Lord then we TRUST Him, that He guides our footsteps and nothing can happen to us that is not approved or allowed by Him. Jesus Christ determines our life IF we obey Him and if we live to please Him. And then He sets us absolutely free, we have nothing else to fear, whatsoever.

People don't want to be free, they prefer bondage because they trust in their own understanding and they want things THEIR WAY. They are not willing to pray from their heart:”Thy will be done, Thy kingdom come...” If we truly trust Jesus then we will pray the Lord's prayer with conviction, from the heart and say:”Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, here on earth as it is in heaven...” Then we will satisfy ourselves in the assurance that GOD IS IN CONTROL and we trust Him with our life, WE HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!

Carnal Christians

If we follow Jesus Christ then our only concern is being pleasing to Him. Then we wait for His confirmation and His approval. We LISTEN to His voice, we OBEY Him, we GO WHERE He sends us and we DO what He tells us and we are not concerned about what anybody thinks about us.

If we are still concerned about being acceptable to the world or being approved of by other people then we cannot be following Jesus Christ.

Jesus strongly rebuked the pharisees, He said to them:”How can you be seeking the glory of God if you are still concerned about the praises that you receive from each other?”

If you are still concerned about being accepted by the church or fitting into this world then you cannot be following Jesus. Then you are carnal, demonic, fleshly, then you are an enemy of God!

Are you a follower of Jesus or are you a CARNAL CHRISTIAN?
