A Child of God Does Not Sin

A child of God is a person who is born again, born of the Spirit of God and he does not sin. He is an obedient child that does the will of the Father. If a person continues in sin then he is either a disobedient child or he is not a child of God. We read in 1 John 3:10 “By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.”

We also read in 1 John 5:18 “We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him and the evil one does not touch him. 19We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” If we are children of God we are free from the bondage of sin and we obey the Father, but there are many who disobey and if we disobey the Father we WILL BE DISCIPLINED!

We read in Hebrews 12:5 “5and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, “MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD, NOR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM; 6FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES.” 7It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? 10For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, that we may share His holiness.”

There are many children of God who have accepted Jesus as Lord who are living in sin, who have strayed from God and they are disobedient and they are being disciplined. Many of them are sick, God is destroying the works of their hands! He is disciplining them, He is punishing them so that they can repent. But if they do not repent then they will be judged with the children of disobedience. The love and the mercy of God is disciplining them so that they can share in His holiness, because a child of God DOES NOT SIN. A child of God is obedient and he bears fruit.

The branch in Jesus that does not bear fruit will be cut off. We read in John 15:5 “5“ I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6“ If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch, and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.”

This is serious! Children of God do not continue in sin, they will be disciplined and if they do not repent they will be judged with the world. They bear fruit of righteousness, holiness and they reflect the fact that they are children of God. Jesus can be seen in them. It is obvious that they are children of God

but if a person keeps on sinning as we read in 1 John 3:10 “BY THIS THE CHILDREN OF GOD AND THE CHILDREN OF THE DEVIL ARE OBVIOUS: ANYONE WHO DOES NOT PRACTICE RIGHTEOUSNESS IS NOT OF GOD.”
